Laser dental sealing in children
Dental laser sealing - a non-invasive and tooth-protective procedure for both deciduous and permanent teeth. Basically, the tooth's grooves are decontaminated with the laser beam, thus being prepared for the application of a sealing material that seals the area, protecting it from the appearance of decay.
What is laser dental sealants?
This procedure is intended to protect children's teeth from cavities, as the sealant covers the grooves and food debris and plaque are easily removed. Most of the time children have cavities in their teeth because daily brushing is difficult for them. Thus, one method of protecting teeth from decay and preventing their infection with bacteria is dental sealants.
To whom is laser dental sealings recommended?
Sealing children's teeth is recommended as soon as the first permanent molars erupt, around the age of 6, but also for baby teeth. With baby teeth, cavities are quite common and can become painful. Prematurely lost baby teeth also encourage the migration of the other teeth and disrupt the bite. The dentists at LIFE DENTAL SPA recommend having your teeth sealed before caries, because oral hygiene is not properly performed at an early age.
Unlike the traditional method of dental sealings, at Life Dental Spa the little ones benefit from a simple, fast procedure using laser.
Dental laser sealing is a non-invasive technique that is performed in 3 steps:
Laser treatment of dental seal surfaces
The laser is bactericidal and eliminates all bacteria present on the sealing surfaces, which will remain clean and ready to receive the sealant. This avoids the appearance of secondary caries under the seal or on its edges. Laser preparation of tooth surfaces also increases the adhesion of the sealant to the tooth.
Applying the dental seal
It is a fluid composite material that is placed on the grooves of the teeth to be sealed and light cures (hardens) in the presence of UV light.
Functional adaptation (in bite)
After applying the seal the doctor checks that the sealing material does not affect the occlusion (bite), with the help of the joint paper, and corrects any inadequate contacts.
Laser dental sealants in children have the following benefits:
Bactericidal effect
The bactericidal effect of the laser decreases the chances of tooth decay under the sealant to almost zero
fast
It is quick to perform (low working time, patient cooperates well)
safety
Safe procedure, if the little patient has brief, uncontrolled movements, the laser does not damage the tissues around the tooth (tongue, lips, cheeks)
minimally invasive
The laser does not touch the tooth
