Ozone therapy
When we talk about ozone therapy, we refer to an innovative treatment method used in many medical fields. These include orthopaedics, dermatology, the treatment of rheumatic diseases, vascular and neurological disorders, urology, gynecology, aesthetic treatments and, of course, dentistry.

What is ozone therapy?
The ozone therapy procedure is based on ozone's ability to destroy microorganisms involved in various diseases. Ozone is a molecule made up of 3 oxygen atoms (O3), and scientific studies have proven that it is the most powerful oxidizing agent known to date. It is found naturally in the lower layers of the atmosphere and acts like a shield protecting the planet from the ultraviolet rays emitted by the sun. There are various therapeutic ozone preparations, including ozonated water, ozonated oils or oxygen-ozone mixtures.

Ozone therapy - benefits in dentistry
The beneficial effects of the ozone therapy procedure are indisputable, whether it is used as the main or complementary method of treatment. Ozone therapy offers a high degree of disinfection and can stop bleeding and have a therapeutic effect in cleaning the treated area. It can also improve the amount of oxygen directed to a wound, speeding up the healing process. At the same time, it raises the temperature of the affected tissue by increasing localized metabolism, thus promoting faster healing of the lesion.
- Has antibacterial effect
- Destroys viruses
- Promotes healing;
- It influences the immune function by having an immunomodulatory action, destroying diseased cells and intensifying the multiplication of healthy ones (in low concentrations, ozone has an immunostimulatory action, in high concentrations - immunosuppressive);
- It does not cause allergies or intolerances and has no side effects;
- Easy application with a special dental appliance
How the procedure works
The ozone used in the ozone therapy procedure is not atmospheric ozone, but is produced by a medical device in the dental office called an ozone generator.
The technique follows exactly how it is produced in the atmosphere. The next step is to administer it with a glass loop into the infected/inflamed area. Ozone will be able to penetrate up to 5 mm into soft tissue and 1-2 mm into hard tissue.
